Join Dr Sarah Chua and Ms Lydia Richards from UniSA as they unpack the findings from the new report Recognising and Rewarding Staff in Local Government. The research, co-funded through the Local Government Research and Development Scheme, explores how councils across Australia are navigating staff recognition in an environment of increasing public scrutiny and changing expectations.

This session will share key insights, practical examples, and guidance on what constitutes acceptable practice in light of recent Ombudsman and Auditor-General commentary. It will also present a framework to help councils design recognition approaches that are fair, consistent, compliant, and aligned with organisational culture and community values.
