The Community Managers Network are pleased to offer bimonthly ‘Open Network Meetings’ in 2023, providing the opportunity for local government professionals of all levels working in the community services or community development space in council to come together to hear from topical speakers, and provide the opportunity for community managers and practitioners to connect, gain insights, share ideas and discuss common areas of interest.

The Open Network Meeting will be held in person and via zoom Friday 27 October from 9:30AM - 11:30AM at LG House, 148 Frome Street, Adelaide.

Join us as we welcome Briana Green, Principal Program Officer - Local Activation, Australian Early Development Census, and Karina Fraser, Strategic Planner, City of Marion to speak at our next Open Network Meeting.

Briana Green

The Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) is a nationwide data collection of early childhood development at the time children commence their first year of full-time school. The AEDC highlights what is working well and what can be improved or developed in communities to support families and their children in the early years.

Local governments are well placed to positively impact the health, wellbeing, and development of children in their communities. When children and families are supported, local governments build a better future for their whole community.

This session will prompt members to think about the steps they might take in utilising the AEDC data and will include an overview of the work that is already occurring across the state to support councils and communities in responding to their AEDC results, including the local government projects funded through the Early Childhood Community Innovation (ECCI) grant program.

Karina Fraser

The Marion Early Years Collective Impact (MEYCI) has brought together 25 local, state and federal community service organisations under a common vision and collective focus to decrease child vulnerability, successfully moving population level Australian Early Development Census data against the Australian trend. Karina will provide an overview of the project including the challenges and opportunities faced while rolling out the project.

We encourage you to attend to form strong new connections with your peers and participate in discussions that you are passionate about.
