On 1 September 2016 Mount Barker District Council was host to 2 workshops designed for women; Confidence & Assertiveness: Platforms for Effective Negotiations. The workshop was first held at the City of Tea Tree Gully in May and it was so successful that morning and afternoon workshops were held at Mount Barker, with over 80 women from various Councils, both rural and metro, attending.
Michelle Bell, as Vice Chair of the LG Professionals Women’s Committee was MC for the day and Mayor Ann Ferguson opened each workshop, speaking passionately about women in Local Government.
Anne Pett entertained everyone with her “Making mistakes is great for your Career Development” presentation, followed by Marie Modra; who facilitated each workshop. The workshops covered many subjects; from “How Self Confident are you” to “assertiveness”, “positive self talk”, and “learning how to build success”.
Feedback from the two workshops was extremely positive and the Committee is now organising a full day session on the same subject to be held in early 2017, along with a number of other women’s network events.
