A word from the CEO

This month I joined our Executive Leaders Program at their first Intensive in Barmera where their learning journey commenced with a focus on understanding complexity and experimenting with contemporary leadership practices. It was such a privilege to see the cohort dive in with such open minds and witness the strong bonds formed in such a short time. Our future is in good hands when you see already strong leaders commit to further development.

Did you know a commitment to lifelong learning is one of the top sought after skills of the future workforce? In a rapidly changing world, we must all stay current and invest in ongoing growth, as well as supporting our teams to do the same. Speaking of teams, good luck to our Rural Challenge teams who will compete on 26 September 2019!

To our members, don’t forget to register for our AGM to be held on 11 September 2019 -we are your Association and are accountable to you, so come and hear what we’ve been up to while also sharing your ideas for the future.

Happy reading,

Taryn Sexton

This month we spoke to Johanna Williams about her role as General Manager, Rundle Mall Management Authority, and what inspired her to take part in our Executive Leaders Program this year.

You work for a council subsidiary – can you tell us what challenges are unique to a subsidiary vs working in a council?
As custodian of the Rundle Mall Precinct, RMMA’s role is to deliver economic benefits for our traders, our property owners and for those who work in and visit the Mall. That means we’re delivering a specific part of the City of Adelaide’s agenda under the governance of a Board comprising retail, property and marketing professionals as well as Elected Members ... read more
