The Executive Leaders Program is for accomplished Executives (Chief Executive Officers, Directors and General Managers) in both regional and metropolitan councils who are seeking to expand their thinking and leadership impact.
Negotiation is a key skill for leaders and professionals, but few people have had any formal training in it. In the workplace, negotiations range from short in length to those that take place over the course of months or years, from those that prioritise outcomes to those that prioritise relationships, from the very competitive to the very collaborative.
This program is designed to help professionals gain an insight into their current negotiation behaviours and preferences, to understand the fundamental framework for all negotiations and to develop the skills and micro-skills that are necessary to navigate through the range of negotiations they face in the workplace.

Project management is a fundamental skill in our modern workforce, as it ensures that what is being delivered is not only right, but that it also delivers against the business opportunity - so it's important that we get it right.
This one-day program is designed to cover the basic principles of managing projects to help you plan, control and organise activities to ensure that you are delivering successful projects every time. It is best suited for staff who may be new to managing projects or have not previously undertaken any formal project management training before.
It is becoming increasingly important for council employees, regardless of level, to make effective business decisions under multiple constraints in uncertain and highly dynamic environments. Some decisions require and allow thorough data gathering and analysis, others are made based on an educated guess or driven by intuition.
This program has been specifically developed to build on skills and knowledge of local government employees to expand and develop strong decision-making capabilities within a complex and fast changing environment.
With a balanced mix of critical thinking, problem solving, influence and psychology, you will expand your mindset and acquire specific practical decision making skills.
For organisations, communication has become ever more challenging in today’s climate where the people we need to reach are overloaded.
We know as leaders that we have to connect with the hearts and minds of our people and we have to paint powerful visions of the future that people can identify with and support. We know that in every moment of communication, we need to reach a high level of connection and authenticity if we are to be effective, to be believed, to be followed with enthusiasm and to make a difference.
In the local government environment, leaders and professionals are required to balance the needs of upholding compliance and regulation (e.g. saying “no”, or issuing an expiation notice), while balancing the expectations of delivering a great customer experience.
This program enables you to identify the dynamics at play where there is tension between needing to meet compliance requirements, meeting strategic objectives and maintaining strong customer relations within the community You’ll learn the approaches, skills and behaviours that you can use on a daily basis to navigate this situation and be known for providing excellent customer service and improved performance, while meeting required levels of regulation.
